Born in the back room of a loan shark’s shop in Rome in 1996, I proclaimed myself a writer without any basis whatsoever, whilst my parents wept quietly in the next room. But I could hear them.

After graduating with a degree in Medicine and Surgery, I decided I would be neither a doctor, nor a surgeon, nor a loan shark. I’m still paying the price for that.
